babai lenses! babai spectacles! SAY HI TO LASIK!!!

kemarin i pegi buat follow up for my eyes at optimax.. alhamdulillah.. so far, my 'new pair of eyes' doing great!

selepas i buat lasik ni, ramai yang tanya macam2 soalan.. dan harap entry2 sebelum ni dapat menjawab FAQ u ols itu.. tapi ramai yang perlu tahu sesuatu sebelum menjalani lasik.

1. buat survey. tanya doc, rakan2 dan pandangan orang ramai. kumpulkan info yang tepat.
2. sekarang, government hospital pun sudah sediakan khidmat lasik. so, try check at ur nearest GH bout this.
3. before lasik being done, kene buat eye checking. and before buat eye checking, takleh pakai contact lenses for a week, and 3 weeks for those who wearing toric lenses.
4. lepas eye checking, tanya seberapa banyak soalan yang boleh. sebab tu sangat penting u ols gather all the info 1st. bila doc explain bout ur eyes, u can argue with the doc pasal info yg u dapat tu untuk dapat further info.. k?
5. lepas eye checking juga, mata u ols jadi silau. this is because the reaction of the ubat titis yang dorg guna semasa eye checking.. ur pupil (anak mata) become larger (dilated) and too many light enter ur eyes menyebabkan silau. so kene standby sunglasses ya..
6. ask somebody to drive for u. sebab takut sesetengah orang rasa pening after eye checking. ini bergantung pada individu. ditambah pula rasa silau, so there's be a big possibilities that u can't afford to drive back home
7. usually, kalo di optimax, doc bagi few choices of doing lasik. tanya doc why and what's the differences and which one is the best for you.
8. it's ok if tetiba u change ur mind taknak buat lasik.. jangan rasa terpaksa or MESTI BUAT lasik lepas eye checking.. sebab u ols kene ada confidence dulu, baru rasa selesa.. and di optimax, memang doc tak paksa u ols... dia cuma bg choices, kita boleh balik, and pertimbangkan.. bila dah pilih kaedah lasik yang kita mahukan, then juz make a phone call to set the appoinment
9. pakai baju yang selesa semasa buat eye checking.. sebab u akan masuk dalam bilik2 yg sejuk dan banyak pergerakan bangun-duduk.. ada banyak hi-tech machine over there.. and every machine tak boleh berpindah2 tempat (fixed), so kita as a patient yang kene berpindah2..
10. jangan pakai mekap semasa LASIK.. takut kandungan mekap menjejaskan proses lasik.
11. kalo rasa tak selesa, juz inform to ur doc.. biasanya doc akan offer ubat penenang supaya kita tak panik semasa lasik berlangsung.
12. jika bawa anak kecil, bawa sedikit bekal sebab eye checking biasanya agak lama.. tapi LASIK sangat sekejap! ;P
13. make sure u ols tak pregnen or tgh breast feed ya... baru buleh buat lasik!
14. lepas buat lasik, takleh pakai mekap (esp bahagian mata - mascara, eye shadow, etc) for 1-2 weeks and tak boleh main sukan lasak for a month esp diving, swimming
15. lepas lasik, mesti jaga mata bebaik - takleh gosok mata, prevent from pegi area byk habuk cthnya pasar malam.. nanti kene asap orang bakar sate! haha! sentiasa standby sunglasses ya..

setelah i succeed with this LASIK thingy, masih ada orang yang sceptical with it.. dorang masih tak faham mengenai risiko lasik dan selalu mempertikaikan keberkesanan lasik. yang dorang faham, lasik is laser.. macam orang buat laser untuk kanser tu.. ekceli it's not the same.. tapi takpe la, kalo rasa tak selesa, takyah la buat kan.. cuma jangan merendah-rendahkan orang yang yakin dengan cara ini.. everyone got their own opinion.. lagipun we are talking bout the eyes - pancaindera yang penting untuk kita..

gadai moto buat lasik pun ok!!!

promot optimax - patut dapat lebih diskaun nih! haha! (gambar diambil sejurus selesai menjalani LASIK)

ada mereka yang mempertikaikan harga membuat LASIK surgery nih.. aiseh! ekceli, ini terpulang pada pendapat masing2.. kalo rasa tak berbaloi, takda sapa pun paksa u ols buat.. kan? macam sesetengah orang rasa berbaloi beli kete bmw, merc, lexus, peugot, etc... alang membeli kannn... tapi ada setengah orang rasa baik pakai kancil atau viva je... sep minyak katanya.. TERRRRPULAAANGG.....

to be honest, cost untuk i buat LASIK ni around 5K for both eyes plus medication plus post-surgery eye check-up.. and i yang pilih method custom LASIK.. custom lasik adalah antara jenis lasik yang mahal berbanding kaedah2 lain.. i dah tak hengat nama2 jenis kaedah lasik tu.. i juz ingat aritu doc ada sebut pasal intra lasik, epi lasik, custom lasik ngan ape ntah lagi.. doc akan bagi banyak pilihan untuk kita.. dia takkan paksa kita pilih kaedah yang mahal2.. dia terangkan semua choices that suits with our cases and dia suh kita balik, think and decide.. then call them for an appoinment.. (i cerita ni pengalaman i kat optimax ye.. kat tempat lain, i taktau la layanan dia macamana)

seingat i, optimax offer harga paling rendah around rm1300 per eye.. i dah survey tempat lain, but i rasa optimax's price is very reasonable... sebab tu i pilih optimax.. and i rasa u ols better survey on your own sebab kita perlukan service terbaik dan selesa.. yela.. dah melabur beribu riban kan.. lagipun ni melibatkan pancaindera kita yang penting..

ada orang tetiba datang cerita yang kawan dia pernah buat laser mata dan sekarang ni jadi tak nampak n worst than b4 buat laser.. ok.. u ols tau tak laser yang kebanyakan hospital biasa offer is laser yang betul2 laser, guna pancaran macam atromen tu? laser yang dipanggil LASIK is totally different... memang dia still guna cahaya laser, tetapi bukan dipancarkan directly to our cornea/lenses... tp sinaran yang membentuk gelembung2 udara.. gelembung ini menyimpan  chemical substances untuk reshape cornea/eye lens semasa doc shoot laser ni kat mata.. and everything is computerized yeh.. ni bukan zaman kita baru nak kenal nuklear.. eye laser yang biasa memang mempunyai risiko untuk tidak sembuh.. most cases doc bagi chances 50-50 je...

walaupun i cekgu, tapi still lemah nak terangkan kat u ols.. better u ols pegi optimax, and they will explain everything! hehe! (ekceli too many terms nak kene ingat, tapi bila nak tulis dah lupa.. then susah la nak explain.. huhu)

i tau.. ada orang kata i ni membazir.. and bila sentuh bab duit, mesti otomatik sentuh bab anak.. konon i takda masalah kewangan langsung la kan.. tapi tahukah anda, hanya diri i sendiri yang tahu kedudukan kewangan i? dan i berusaha ke arah ini.. i tak ganggu sesiapa.. so, tolongla.. mana sensitiviti u ols yang konon dah ada anak suppose lebih rasa loving, caring..? ni tidak.. mengalahkan orang mereng... ops!! theheheheeh! mohon maaf dipinta.. selamat hari raya!!! tata!!!

risiko lasik dan jaminan

i selalu diajukan soalan ini.. tak sakit ke? takda side effect ke buat laser2 ni? nanti kirannya tak payah pakai spek sepanjang hayat ke?

hurm.. ok.. to be honest, semasa proses lasik berlangsung, takde la rasa sakit bagai nak mati.. ada sket2 je.. ye.. sakit sikit.. dan sikit yang dimaksudkan di sini adalah sakit seperti senak perut.. erk! tak reti la i nak bagi perumpamaan.. ekceli tak de la sakit mana.. rasa tekanan je kat mata disebabkan oleh mesin laser tu sendiri semasa doc nak shoot laser tu je.. YE!!!.. i found the words! it's TEKANAN! bukan rasa sakit..! (-_-)"

side effect? mm.. takda kesan sampingan.. cuma doc tak gerenti 100%.. setakat ni, nisbah client yang mempunyai kesan sampingan adalah 0.1%  bagi seluruh dunia! ye! seluruh dunia! (baca dengan semangat yang membara okehhh!)

dan jaminan selepas membuat lasik agar tidak rabun kembali - TIADA! memang doc tidak memberi sebarang jaminan kerana semua itu bergantung kepada penjagaan mata selepas membuat lasik.. menjaga mata ni maksud dia, jangan baca dalam gelap... jangan tengok tv dekat2... jangan pandang cahaya yang kuat secara direct... jangan main fb lelama... (ops! thehehehe!) sayangi mata anda! sayangi duit anda buat lasik! maka kompem la kene jaga mata tu kan.. lain la kalo nak buat lasik banyak2 kali sebab taktau nak buat ape dah ngan duit tu! hihihi!

satu soalan glamer yang perlu saya jawab - BERBALOI KE BUAT LASIK BERIBU RIBAN NIH?

ok.. ok.. berbaloi atau tidak, itu terpulang.. memang parents saya tak menggalakkan saya buat lasik ni.. tetapi setelah berbincang mengenai keadaan mata saya sekarang dan kos membuat spek baru setiap tahun dan kos contact lenses saya setiap bulan, personally,  i feel it very worth to make it! bayangkan, kanta spek saya untuk kedua- belah mata saja mencecah harga seribu hengget (most of the time lebih dari itu), belum lagi i nak pilih bingkai spek yang cun melecun.. kompem la harga paling lekeh pun 1.5k kan... kalo setiap tahun i spent 1.5k utk spek, plus contact lense i stok untuk 3 bulan  is rm200, tak termasuk solution dia lagik... setahun i belanja rm800 untuk contact lense saja tau... memandangkan i rabun teruk, i takleh pakai contact lense murah or yang biasa orang beli.. contact lens i adalah custom made n perlu ditempah, that's y harga dia lebih mahal...

so, adakah berbaloi membuat lasik? untuk saya, YA! MEMMMAAAANG BERBALOI!!!

mak mertua kassim selamat???

dear all....

12 ogos 2010, rabu bersamaan dengan 2 ramadhan, ai pegi sekolah dengan memakai cermin buat julung kalinya.. ye.. 1st time pakai spek depat students.. sekian..


eh.. eh.. belum mula lagi ceritanya.. tengok la tajuk tu beb! ada orang cakap, ai dah mcm MAK DARA aka nyonya maneer aka MAR MERTUA encek kassim selamat dalam cerita ibu mertuaku!!! **banyak la pulak aka aku** orang yang cakap tu memang dengki betul la.. haha! takpe.. takpe.. ai tak kesah.. asal kulit ai tak itam je... hihi! ops! ada orang terasa ke? hahaha! seswai la.. kan.. pak tam usik mak dara... ekekekekek! macam tak besa...

ai tak tau perlu ke ai teruskan pemakaian cermin mata dan meninggalkan terus contact lens ai.. sebab ai masih tak selesa dgn spek ai ni haa.. **nak bagitau yang spek ai tu baru lagik!** tapi sangat berkobar2 nak buat LASIK tu.. terpaksa la kan.. and sekarang pulak other things coming out pulak! asal aku dapat kompol RM je ada je la yang nak aku labur ke lain.. dengki tul la.. takleh tengok ai senang sket.. adeh..

mungkin ai selang seli pemakaian spek n lens buat smentara ni.. till i get used to it.. harap kulit bawah mata dapat maintain sebab kalo pakai spek aje mula la dia nak jadi itam n bertukar rupa.... kembung sana la.. gelebeh sini la.. mencik tau!!!

mak aiii....

baiklah.. memang tahap kerabunan saya sangat teruk ... tapi bukan nak simpati sesiapa.. cuma pergerakan untuk lebih aktif agak terbatas.. mula memakai spek sejak umo 9 tahun dan starting lens power saya mencecah 300 sebelah mata... ye.. ye.. tahap hampir buta sekarang ni.. mana taknya, dari 9 thn sehingga saya berumur 20thn, setiap tahun cek mata power mesti naik.. so juz imagine and u ols agak2, berapa la power lens spek mata saya ketika ini.. sangat mabeles okehhh!!!






saya jarang bergiat aktif sejak dari kecil kerana kekurangan ini.. aktiviti seperti bersukan memang sangat limited.. yang saya tahu, saya banyak masuk pertandingan bercerita, menyanyi koir/nasyid, buat lawak bodo **termasuk dalam pakej**, pertandingan berpantun dan yang seangkatan dengannya..

sejak mula diperkenalkan menda alah yang digelar encek contact lens, saya pun mula berjinak2 dengannya.. sangat tidak selesa.. tapi akhirnya dapat adapt dengan 'mata baru' setelah few years.. ye.. few years! setelah itu, barulah saya agak aktif dengan aktiviti lasak tapi masih tak minat bersukan mcm lari pecut ke, badminton ke, main gasing ke, sepak takraw ke.. saya lebih suka jungle treking, aktiviti kem, rafting, scuba diving..

and umur yang semakin meningkat memungkinkan saya tidak lagi sesuai dgn contact lens ini.. langkah yang saya dpt nampak terbentang depan mata dengan sangat jelas adalah kaedah laser eye surgery... harap dapat melaksanakannya suatu hari nanti... Insyaallah.. Pray for me...

5) TREATMENT/ SURGERY
You will spend about 2 to 3 hours here on that day.
a. Please do not use perfume, alcohol-based skin products, or make-up on the procedure day as
this may interfere with the procedure and accuracy of the Excimer Laser.
b. Have your breakfast if you are coming in early for treatment.
c. Please wear warm, comfortable clothing as the laser room and recovery area is cold.
d. Bring a pair of sunglasses to wear, after the procedure as you may experience light-sensitivity.
e. Shower and wash your face well (especially around the eyes and lashes) before coming for the
procedure.
f. Please do not drive home yourself after the procedure.
(You should arrange for transport or we can call a taxi for you)
g. You should have read and understood the Consent form and you will have to sign it before the
treatment.
h. If you feel nervous or anxious prior to the procedure, an oral sedative can be given.
i. A few tests may be repeated if deemed necessary by the treating doctor.

Medical leave after treatment:
A total of 3 days leave from work is generally what most of our patients feel comfortable with.
(A Medical Certificate will be issued upon request)

Post-operative check-ups:
Our Customer Care Consultants will assist you in making your post-operative check-up appointments.


6) THE REFRACTIVE PROCEDURE
The procedure will take about 10 minutes per eye. A nurse will help you to get ready and clean the eye area with antiseptic. Just before the procedure, some eye drops and anaesthetic will be instilled into the eye. An eye speculum will be used to prevent your lids from blinking. It is painless though you will feel a stretching sensation.

During:
LASIK/Epi-LASIK: A suction ring will be placed on your eye. You will feel some pressure on your eye and the vision will go dark .A specially designed instrument, called a Microkeratome /Epitome will create a flap on the cornea. You will hear a buzzing sound as the Microkeratome /Epitome are in use. The doctor will then lift back the flap.
LASEK: A solution of alcohol is placed on the corneal surface for 30 seconds. This loosens the top layer of the skin (epithelium). The epithelial flap is rolled back to expose the corneal bed on which the laser ablation is applied. The laser will be applied to the cornea. There will be a buzzing sound and a slight burning odor. This is usual, so do not get unduly concerned. Afterwards, the corneal surfaces are cleaned and the flap is replaced without stitches and the healing begins.

** For Epi-LASIK/LASEK: A bandage contact lens will be placed on the cornea, to protect the epithelial flap. This helps the healing of the epithelial surface and minimizes the discomfort. This lens will be removed after 4-7 days when the epithelium has healed.

Intra-LASIK: This is identical to LASIK but the flap is created with a separate Laser called the
“INTRALASE” laser. A suction ring will be placed on your eye and your vision will go dark. The Laser will take approximately 20 seconds to create the flap. You will then be moved to the second Laser; i.e. the Excimer Laser. The flap will be lifted for Laser ablation and the rest of the procedure will follow as in LASIK.
** This procedure is currently performed in Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kuala Lumpur as an
added option.

After:
LASIK/Intra-LASIK
The first few hours, there is slight grittiness, stinging and watering of the eyes. Try to rest by keeping the eyes closed. For Epi-LASIK, some may experience mild discomfort and have a swollen lid for about 1 to 2 days. Please take your pain medication as advised and rest by keeping the eyes closed.
Epi-LASIK/LASEK
Some may experience mild discomfort and have swollen lid for about 1-2 days. Please take your pain medication as advised and rest by keeping the eyes closed. Your daily activities might be affected for 1 to 2 weeks. Please take extra care during this period when driving.


7) AFTERCARE
1. Your treating doctor will check you after the procedure before you leave the Centre.
2. Do not to rub, squeeze or squint on your eyes during the 1st week after the procedure.
3. Avoid getting water, soap or shampoo in your eyes, but you will still need to keep the eyelid area
clean.
4. Avoid dusty and smoky places for the 1st week.
5. Don’t wear eye make-up for 1 week.
6. Don’t swim or use the sauna, spa or have a facial for a month.
7. Avoid sports like football, taekwando, and tennis for a month.
8. Don’t drive until you feel confident.
9. Put on eye shields provided before bed for the 1st week.
10. Use the eye drops as advised.
11. Attend all check ups as advised.
12. Do not worry unduly if you experiencing glare/haloes at night, or under dim lights for a few weeks


Generally, for all procedures of Refractive Surgery, your vision will gradually improve,
and sometimes, it might take about 3 to 6 months to stabilize. During the first few
months after treatment, you will notice fluctuations in the vision. Temporary glare and
haloes are common after this treatment and will gradually improve. Night driving will be
a little difficult during the first few weeks, so do be extra careful.

mata.. ooohhh mata....

okeh... sikit lagi RM akan capai tempoh matang untuk ai buat menda alah ni.. bukan semata2 untuk ekcantikan, tapi juga untuk kesihatan mata... u ols tau kan, mata ni penting.. cane ai nak pergi berjimba dengan riang ria tanpa ada penglihatan yang baik? hihi! mengada je ayat ni.. by the way, i dah fed-up ngan lenses sebab mata air cepat sgt kering lately **ooowwhhh!! aku dah tua kottt!!!** walhal ai masih pakai brand lens yang sama sejak 4 thn lalu.. and memandangkan probability ai untuk rabun dekat di hari tua juga ada, jadi kena la ai jaga mata ai dari sekarang... and this is my choice - LASIK EYE SURGERY


1)Are you suitable for Refractive Surgery?
a. You must be 18 years and over and have had stable vision for the past year
b. You must not be Pregnant or Breastfeeding
c. You have not been diagnosed with:
1. Connective Tissue, Autoimmune or Immunodeficiency disease, e.g. Rheumatoid
Arthritis, Sjogren’s disease, Severe dry eyes
2. Keratinous, Cataract, Glaucoma, Retinal Detachment, Myopic Degeneration
(Progressive cornea thinning & protrusion resulting in poor vision due to high short
sight & astigmatism)

2) PLANNING FOR YOUR EYE EXAMINATION APPOINTMENT
Before treatment:
If you are a contact lens wearer, these lenses must first be removed.
The contact lenses may “distort” and “dry” the cornea. For accuracy during the Eye Examination and
Treatment, please follow these guidelines: -
(Please note the longer the lenses are left out, the better)
Soft/ Disposable/ Daily Lenses
10 days to 14 days
Semi Hard (RGP)/ Hard/ Toric Soft Lenses
Min 3 weeks to 4 weeks

3) EYE EXAMINATION
A series of tests will be carried out by our Optometrists to determine your suitability…
a. Automated Refraction and Keratometry
(Your initial power will be estimated automatically by an Auto-refractor)
b. Slit Lamp Examination
(Your cornea and anterior part of the eye will be examined using a Slit-Lamp Microscope)
c. Pupil Size
(Your pupil size will be measured to determine its size under dark conditions)
d. Tonometry
(Your eye pressure will be measured with a Non-Contact Tonometer)
e. Pachymetry
(Your corneal thickness will be measured)
f. Topography
(The contour map of the cornea will be recorded)
g. Aberrometry
(The distortions of the eye are analyzed)
h. Manifest Refraction
(power of the eye is measured with lenses)
i. Retinal Examination
(To check that your pupil will be dilated and to determine if the retina is free from any diseases and
abnormalities)
j. Cycloplegic Refraction
(The cycloplegic eye drops will be instilled into your eye to relax the focusing muscle and recheck
the power of the eye)
(After the dilating eye drops, you will not be able to drive comfortably as your vision will be blurry
and you may need to wear sunglasses to reduce glare)

4) COUNSELLING SESSION
What to expect?
Our trained counselors/ optometrists will counsel you and answer any questions you may have,
pertaining to your eyes. You will be asked to fill up a Counseling Form to help the
Counselors/optometrists gauge how much you understand of the procedure.
A Consent Form will be given to you to take home to read. You will need to sign this on the day of
treatment. You NEED to understand its contents and agree, to proceed with your treatment.

ini hanyalah persediaan/rutin sebelum u ols pegi cek up kat spital yang pakar buat LASIK.. after that, specialist tu akan bagitau la wat to do next... ada orang tak seswai ngan LASIK tapi boleh buat LASEK.. ai tak berapa sure method dia berbeza ke tak.. yang ai tau, LASEK is little bit painful than LASIK method...
